My wife showed up this evening with a leaking gas tank. Apparently she ran over something on her way home and it made a gash in the gas tank. I have an oil pan underneath and am having to empty it every half hour or so but it was a full talk so I have no idea how long this is going to take. I have been doing this since before 6PM. Hopefully it won’t be too much longer. That is all I’ve got.

I listened to Whiskeytown’s album Pneumonia on the way home tonight. It had been a while since I had listened to it and I was reminded how great it is. I think it is by far some of my favorite songwriting by Ryan Adams. The first half of the album is especially good.
Speaking of Ryan Adams, Jonathan pointed me to his most recent blog at the Cardinals’ site the other day and it is a really long and interesting post about him leaving the music world for the time being. Interestingly enough, I now can’t find the post on their blog. Maybe they deleted it. I dunno, oh well.
Go listen to Pneumonia.
Speaking of Cardinals – Super Bowl? Never saw it coming. Good for them. The Steelers just beat the Ravens 23-14 so they will be headed to the Super Bowl as well. I guess I need to make plans for where to watch it.
Off to bed for now.

Joaquin Phoenix announced a while back that he was “not doing films anymore” and pursuing a music career after falling in love with music due to his role in Walk The Line. He had been working on an album with the help of The Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess for a while but nothing ever seemed to come of it. Now he has announced that he is making a rap album to be produced by Diddy and his brother in-law Casey Affleck with be making a documentary of the process. Videos have now surfaced on youtube of his first performance in Las Vegas which you can see below as well as his retirement announcement. It appears as if it could be a set up for some sort of huge joke/documentary as it is all SO ridiculous. Either way I can’t wait for the album and documentary.
Watch until the end of the last video to see him totally bust on his way offstage.

I have been a fan of The Lomograhic Society for a while now. I got my Holga a little over a year ago now and really enjoy it. Unfortunately I don’t get to shoot with it all that often though as it really requires a lot of light and the film is expensive to buy and to process. My Friend Brian Manley turned me on to the Lomo LC-A+ which is based on the camera that really started the whole lomography thing. It shoots 35mm so it is not as expensive of a hobby and it has a handy light sensor that lets you know when you have taken in enough light for the shot which helps since I am so often in such low light surroundings.
I had contacted The Lomographic Society to look into doing some sort of cross promotion during one of our tours and they asked me to be part of their Lomo Amigos project. They hooked me up with an LC-A+, a bunch of extra add ons and a variety of film to get started and told me to just shoot all of the film and send it back to them for processing. I had a few rolls of cheap walmart film so I decided to shoot those as well and develop them at CVS so I could try and figure out what sort of mistakes I was making with the camera and see how the shots were turning out before I used all of the film.
I posted my first roll in the photos section as well as a bunch of photos I took while recording our new album. I realized I am not very good at keeping the camera still while shooting with longer exposure times so a lot of the photos are blurry. I also tend to forget to change the focus setting and have a lot of out of focus shots. I guess I need to use the flash more and pay attention to the focus settings.
Here are a few random shots. You can see the rest in the photos section.
