Erin and I met up with Robert and Mary Alice yesterday for lunch at La Parrilla and then headed to the High Museum of Art to check take advantage of their monthly deal which lets Fulton County residents in for free on the first Saturday of each month. Apparently everyone else in the city decided to take advantage of it this month as well. The line was out the door and the wait was an hour just to get in to the ticket booth. From there we got an exhibit time that we had to wait until in order to see the main exhibit which is currently China’s Terracotta Army.
Luckily we were able to check out the rest of the museum while we waited. They still have a selection of items from the Lourve in their Lourve Atlanta – The Masterpiece Exhibit which was pretty interesting. Some of the highlights were a Da Vinci notebook, Monet’s House Of Parliament-Effect Of Fog, a Norman Rockwell, and an amazing Renaissance and Medieval section.
The Terracotta Army exhibit was pretty amazing and the whole story behind them in unreal. It was a little frustrating not being able to take the time to read all of the information included because there were so many people that had no problem stepping right in front of the signs I was trying to read. Luckily the museum website (High.org) seems to have plenty of information including a video series that I plan on watching.
I would definitely recommend visiting the High and checking out both the Lourve and the Terracotta Army exhibits while they are in town, just don’t go on the first Saturday of the month.
After spending the day at the museum we came home and had an awesome dinner of homemade chili and cord bread and then watched the Colts/Chargers game. Thanks to the Friday Night Lights TV show, my wife has a new found love of football and has been watching it even on her own while I am on the road. She mostly has kept up with college football and this was the first NFL game she has paid attention to since getting into the game. It is a lot of fun explaining to her what is going on and last nights game was a perfect chance to do that as there were so many turnovers, penalties, and different situations that don’t always come up in a normal game. The Chargers won in overtime and thanks to the high energy game my wife is even more hooked on football. Thank you Firday Night Lights!
